Assessing Vocational Achievement

Level: QCF Level 3

Part of the newsuite of qualifications replacing the A1 & A2 assessor awards, developed by Lifelong Learning UK.    These new qualifications comprising Awards and Certificates are likely to be required in many sectors by staff delivering, assessing and quality assuring competence-based qualifications.  It is suggested by Ofqual that upskilling will be required but has not been decided upon yet what form that will take.

These awards are not straight forward replacements for A1 & A2.

Unit1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment (3 credits)

Unit 2:Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment(6 credits)

Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge & Understanding(6 credits)

(Assessing real and simulated similar to the old ‘A1’)

These qualifications are knowledge and competence-based. This means that it is linked to a person having the knowledge and the ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work in their workplace.

This qualification is assessed by elc staff in any of the following ways: Underpinning Knowledge Sessions, Observation, Reflective Accounts, Witness statements, Professional Discussion, Questioning, Work Products.

Former qualifications will also be taken into account (RPL)

Course duration approx: 6 months
